Chris Knight Wins Super Compact Special On USG Night As Henry, Hoffman, Ashton, And Ferrell Celebrat
Date Posted: 8/30/2010
(Smithton, PA) Bobby Henry, of Connellsville, PA, won for the second time in three NASCAR Subway Super Late Model events on Friday, August 27 at Motordrome Speedway. Also winning on USG Night at the Races were Lonnie Hoffman (Wyotech Modifieds), Bill Ashton (Napa Street Stocks), Zane Ferrell (Pro Auto Supply Service Chargers), and Christopher Knight, who won the biggest race of the season for Coca Cola Super Compacts.

Returning after a spectacular crash one week prior, John Komarinski led the first lap of the NASCAR Subway Super Late Model feature event. Third starter, Barry Awtey, then held the point position for five laps, one week after he was taken out of the lead by contact from another car. On lap seven, the seventh place starter, Bobby Henry passed Awtey for the lead. Henry s teammate, Garry Wiltrout, started eighth and he passed Awtey for second on lap nine. The pair of former Motordrome Champions, Henry and Wiltrout, ran away from the rest of the competitors through the middle stages of the 50-lap event. Wiltrout stayed close to Henry s rear bumper for much of the race, and with two restarts inside of ten laps to go, Wiltrout had side-by-side restart opportunities. But, Henry was strong enough defend his lead, and win for the 116th time in his career, driving the Stone and Company/Scottdale Lumber/Meegan Ford. R&R Motorsports, after suffering terrible luck in the first half of 2010, has now won three of the last four races, including the prestigious Summer Sizzler 100. Wiltrout, who earned the team s first win of the year, placed second ahead of points leader Mark Cottone who started tenth and finished third. Awtey finished fourth and Komarinski was fifth. Henry and Cottone each won a heat race.

The Hometown Hero, Lonnie Hoffman (of Smithton, PA) proved that perseverance pays, after taking his third checkered flag of 2010. The previous Friday, while in contention for the Wyotech Modifieds Track Championship, Hoffman was launched airborne over another Modified, and his heavily damaged machine left on a tow truck. With many untested new parts and a new chassis setup, Hoffman won his heat race, and then wrestled the lead away from a six-time Modified Champion on lap 17 of the 25-lap feature, to go on to victory lane. Hoffman started fifth and moved into second place on lap six, hounding leader Adam Kostelnik. When the checkered flag waved, Hoffman defeated three time winner Gary Scott, who placed second after winning a heat; points leader Chris Brink who finished third after a spin; Troy Knight who earned a second straight top five finish; and Kostelnik who came from the rear to place fifth.

Aaron Minjock took the lead on lap one of the 25-lap Napa Street Stock feature, seeking his second victory of 2010. On lap two, third place starter Bill Ashton roared into the lead, driving his vintage Chevelle, sporting 1977 sheet medal. Ashton opened up a big lead, as eighth starting Dink Colarusso was advancing through the field. On lap 14 Colarusso, the new division points leader, moved into second place, nearly a straightaway behind veteran Ashton. Colarusso closed the gap to produce an exciting finish, but Ashton would earn his first win since 2007, with Colarusso the runner up. Shawn Phillips, a two-time winner, placed third after starting ninth, with heat winner Tony Manganello fourth and rookie winner Matt Sever fifth. Popular Aston also won his heat, for a perfect sweep of the evening.

Three winners took turns at the front of the Pro Auto Supply Service Chargers 15-lap feature, starting with Ed McConnell leading two laps. Championship contender Denny Keller charged from eighth starting spot into the lead on lap three. On lap eight, his rival Zane Ferrell captured the top spot, making the winning pass to increase his points lead in the division. On that same lap, four-time winner Kristen Etling also passed Keller, and remained in second place at the finish, as Ferrell became the only five time Charger winner. Keller placed third, with four time winner Ron Eiford, III fourth, and McConnell fifth. Ferrell and Eiford won the heats.

After Mary Catherine Shimko, Dave Kumpfmiller, and Christopher Knight won heats for the Coca Cola Super Compacts, the biggest event of 2010 for the division commenced. Kyle Komarinski took the lead for the first two of the 25-laps, but was then bumped out of the lead by Scott Ahlborn. Knight inherited the lead on the restart, but lost the top spot to points leader Bill Schwartz. Five more times Schwartz and Knight would swap the lead officially, and countless times unofficially. At the finish line, Knight earned his second career win in the crown-jewel event for the division after starting 15th, with Eugene Hillbilly Zerfoss sneaking into second after a pair of last lap restarts; he started 19th. Two time winner Schwartz, started 17th and placed third, ahead of 22nd place starter Andrew Dutkewicz, and previous week s winner Cody Quarrick in fifth.

Next Friday, September 3, Motordrome presents Half Price Fireworks Night, offering fans 50% off general admission tickets and a giant fireworks display after the NASCAR racing action. Race time 7:30pm.

Farrell Tops Charger Special As Cottone, Brink, Aiello, and Quarrick Take Victories On RMG Night
Date Posted: 8/24/2010
(Smithton, PA) Three drivers collected their fourth victories of 2010 in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series on August 20, 2010 at Motordrome Speedway. Mark Cottone became the leading winner of the season in the NASCAR Subway Super Late Models as did Chris Brink in the Wyotech Modifieds. Scott Aiello, in a tight Championship battle won for the second time in the Napa Street Stocks. Zane Ferrell s fourth win in the Pro Auto Supply Service Chargers was in the biggest race of the season for the division. Cody Quarrick won his second feature in the Coca Cola Super Compacts on Romesburg Media Group Night.

The NASCAR Subway Super Late Model feature started with a bang, as pole starter John Komarinski took the lead, but just before completing lap one, Komarinski got into the outside wall on the front stretch and up on two wheels in front of the field. Garry Wiltrout was collected in the incident and Komarinski walked away from his severely damaged car. Dan Lewis led the first two official laps before two-time winner Steve Black took the lead after starting fourth. Barry Awtey consistently challenged Black for the top spot over the first half of the race, and on lap 26 Awtey passed Black, seeking a second win of the season. The following lap, Black made contact with the leader in turn one, sending Awtey for a spin. Black was sent to the tail for the restart by track officials, and Awtey expressed his displeasure to Black as the fans roared. Prior to the caution flag for the leaders, Bobby Henry had been third and inherited the pole for the restart. The most recent winner led laps 29-41 after starting eighth. But on lap 42, defending Champion Mark Cottone made the winning pass and held on for the final eight circuits to increase his division points lead. Cottone s Casite/Auto Express Transportation/Mamma Poppino s Pizza Chevy is the only car to park in victory lane four times in 2010, after starting fifth and winning his heat. Heat race winner Henry held on to finish second, as Awtey rallied back to place third, with two-time winner Mark Poole fourth and Black fifth.

Billy Hribar continued to impress fans, as he followed up his career first feature victory by taking the lead again at the start of the 25-lap feature event, from pole starter Pat Hanley. After leading ten laps, added to his previous week s total, Hribar was in front of the field for 35 consecutive laps in two events. He lost the top spot to the Championship points leader Chris Brink on lap eleven. Brink started sixth, and went on to break his tie with Gary Scott atop feature win list for 2010, claiming his fourth trophy. Scott, a three time winner, started fifth and took second place on lap 16 from rookie Hanley and held the runner up position when the checkered flag waved. Hanley finished third, with Troy Knight earning a career best fourth place finish. Defending Champ Adam Kostelnik was fifth after spinning from third place on lap seven, and coming from the rear. Bobby Shipp won a heat race as did Championship contender Lonnie Hoffman, who crashed out of the feature event.

In a tight season Championship battle, opening night Napa Street Stock winner Scott Aiello entered the night six points behind previous week s winner Dink Colarusso; it was the first time all year Aiello was not on top of the standings. Aiello started third in the 25-lap feature and was in front of the field before lap one was completed. Aiello also won his heat, forcing Colarusso to have a good night to stay in the points lead. After starting seventh, Colarusso took second place from heat winner Teddy Gibala with three laps to go, but came up short of a second straight win. Aiello led every lap to earn his second career win, and second of the year. Behind Colarusso in second place was former Champ Shawn Phillips in third, veteran Bill Ashton in fourth, and Aaron Minjock in fifth.

The biggest event of the season for the Pro Auto Supply Service Chargers was a 25-lap feature which started with Al Minjock taking a commanding lead after starting on the pole. For five laps the veteran paced the field in the quest for a first win, but ninth starting Zane Ferrell took the lead on lap six. Ferrell, a three time winner, carried a slim points lead into the night and split the heat race wins with Championship rival Denny Keller. Keller started eleventh in the extended distance feature and he climbed to third place on lap nine. Separating the two title contenders on the track, was three time starter A.J. Poljak. The dirt track winner was seeking a second career pavement win and started eighth. Poljak moved into second spot on lap eight, and hounded Ferrell for the lead all race long. Ferrell and Poljak were often sideways in their battle and when the checkered flag waved, Ferrell became a four time winner. Poljak held on to second, Keller placed third, previous week s winner Ron Eiford, III was fourth and 2010 winner Ed McConnell was fifth.

In a shocking display of strength, Cody Quarrick started sixteenth in the 15-lap Coca Cola Super Compact feature and roared into the lead on lap three! The former Late Model driver also won a heat race before claiming his second victory of the year. Eugene Hillbilly Zerfoss started twelfth and placed second, with fourteenth starter Bill Schwartz finishing third, as division points leader. Andrew Dutkewycz started fifteenth and finished fourth with Jessica Knight finishing fifth after starting tenth. Dale Grubbs, Jr. and Mary Catherine Shimko also won heat races.
This was Cody's cars third win of 2010 and according to the rules was impounded after the races to be taken to the chasis dyno to verify compliance with the maximum 150hp at the front wheels rule. On monday at John Sandzemier's auto service it was confirmed after averaging three dyno runs that the car had a maximum of 118hp and was legal by the 2010 rules book.

Henry Steals Summer Sizzler 100, Hribar And Knight Grab Career Firsts While Sever And Eiford III Rep
Date Posted: 8/10/2010
(Smithton, PA) Bobby Henry, of Connellsville, PA, earned his first win of 2010 in the NASCAR Subway Super Late Models with a last lap pass in the second round of the Motordrome Speedway Triple Crown Series. Also on August 6, 2010, Billy Hribar won his first career Wyotech Modified feature and Matt Sever won his third Napa Street Stock feature. Ron Eiford, III won for the fourth time this year in the Pro Auto Supply Service Chargers and Christopher Knight won for the first time in the Coca Cola Super Compacts.

The Summer Sizzler 100 began with defending Motordrome Champion Mark Cottone establishing the fastest time in qualifying among the 23 entries, followed by a top twelve driver redraw for starting positions. Barry Awtey started on the pole for the 100 lap feature, with New York invader Scott Wylie outside row one. Awtey led the first lap, before third place starter Tommy Beck took the lead. Fifth starting Mark Cottone advanced to second on lap 23, and on lap 40, Cottone became the third leader of the race. After a restart on lap 64, Beck overtook Cottone, and led another six laps. After a lap 70 restart, eighth starting Neil Brown took the lead. Brown set the pace until lap 99, when a caution flag forced a double-file restart and extended the race to 101 laps. Brown and Cottone led the field back to green flag conditions, with Bobby Henry restarting in third place. Henry vaulted into the lead around both Cottone and Brown, then, earned his first win since opening day 2009, aboard the R&R Motorsports owned Stone and Company/Scottdale Lumber/Meegan Ford. Henry qualified second quickest, and started the race in tenth position before going on to win the second of the Motordrome Triple Crown events. Brown placed second, Cottone (who won the first round of the Triple Crown ) placed third. Henry s teammate - the previous week s winner Garry Wiltrout was fourth and Beck was fifth.

An upset victory pleased the crowd in the Wyotech Modifieds, as the ever improving Billy Hribar visited victory lane for the first time in his young career. After starting on the pole for the 25-lap event, Hribar drove a smooth, consistent race using the outside line and held off several winning veterans for an emotional win. Hribar, The Flying Fireman, announced in victory lane that he considered ending his career after the 2010 season, but taking a checkered flag renewed his enthusiasm. For most of the race, it was J.P Weiser applying the pressure to Hribar, but on the final lap points leader Chris Brink made a pass for second. Behind Weiser in third place was Lonnie Hoffman, who started seventh, and Bobby Shipp completed the top five after starting ninth.

Teenage rookie Matt Sever had another memorable duel with former Napa Street Stock Champion Shawn Phillips, but this time the near-photo-finish went in Sever s favor. Dustin Blank led the first three laps of the 25-lap feature, before Aaron Minjock took the lead. On lap 14, Sever made a bold pass of points leader Scott Aiello for second place, and then passed Minjock on lap 16. Phillips started ninth and grabbed second place on lap 18. Only in the final couple of laps did Phillips challenge, and Sever was able to hold on for his third win by inches after contact. Just like Phillips two weeks prior, Sever was very complimentary of his new rival, in the victory lane interview, and mentioned that even he did not know who actually won the race. Behind Phillips when the checkered flag waved was previous week s winner Dink Colarusso, Aiello, and Minjock.

An unbelievable finish in the Pro Auto Supply Service Chargers had the crowd standing in amazement, as the top two drivers in the Championship standings traded paint while battling for the lead. Denny Keller and Zane Ferrell are multiple feature winners, and the duo swapped the lead numerous times in the 15-lap event. On the final lap, after using all lanes of the speedway and making repeated contact in every corner, the leaders took each other out of competition on the backstretch, spinning into the grass beneath turn three. The Ferrell/Keller crash, allowed third place driver Ron Eiford, III to calmly take the lead in the final turns and drive to his fourth win of 2010. Al Minjock placed a career-best second after starting seventh, and early race leader Tracy Keller was third with Ed McConnell placing fourth, ahead of fifth place finisher Jon Scott.

Yet again young Stephen Shelpman was on the cusp of his first career victory, and yet again he finished second in the Coca Cola Super Compacts. In the 15-lap feature, Shelpman and Christopher Knight swapped the lead five times, and leaned on each other nearly every lap through turns one and two. When the checkered flag waved, Knight earned his first career victory, after starting in the 15th position. Shelpman, the 13th place starter was runner up. Two time winner Eugene Hillbilly Zerfoss placed third after starting 18th, and previous week s winner Paul Koffler, Jr. was fifth after starting 19th.

Next Friday, Motordrome Speedway will be silent, in preparation for Saturday's CAR WARZ Crash O Rama which includes a 100 lap Enduro, a Charger feature, a flag pole race, chain race, trailer race, skid car race, and more plus Monster Trucks and Monster Truck rides. This unique event begins at 7:30pm on Saturday night August 14.

Frank Wilson Wins ARCA Truck Main, Wiltrout,Colarusso,Etling, and Koffler Jr Grab NASCAR Wins
Date Posted: 8/2/2010
(Smithton, PA) The ARCA Truck Series visited a Western PA paved oval for the first time on Friday, July 30, and West Virginia veteran Frank Wilson, Jr. won his first event on the 2010 tour at Motordrome Speedway. Also winning on Commonwealth Contracting Night in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series was Garry Wiltrout, who earned his first win of the year in the NASCAR Subway Super Late Models. Dink Colarusso won the Napa Street Stock feature, while Kristen Etling dominated the Pro Auto Supply Service Charger main event, and Paul Koffler, Jr. was the winner of the Coca Cola Super Compact feature.

Chris Bailey, Jr, returned to NASCAR Subway Super Late Model competition for the first time in over a month, and started on the pole for the 50-lap feature. Bailey led at the wave of the green flag, but soon surrendered to veteran John Komarinski. Komarinski has been a contender for several weeks, and he led until lap 13, when fourth place starter Barry Awtey finally inched ahead after several laps of side-by-side racing. Komarinski reclaimed the top spot on lap 16, as Awtey faded and fifth place starter Garry Wiltrout advanced to second. On lap 29, Wiltrout passed Komarinski and three laps later Wiltrout s teammate Bobby Henry moved into second. Henry started eighth, and over the final 15 laps he haunted the rear bumper of Wiltrout, occasionally peeking inside to try a winning pass. When the checkered flag waved, the R&R Motorsports Team swept the top two positions, with 2002 Motordrome Champion Wiltrout winning for the first time this season. The 2007 Track Champion, Henry, equaled his best finish of the year in second place, and heat winner Mark Cottone advanced from ninth starting spot to finish third. Komarinski held on to place fourth and Neil Brown in his new Bentz Motorsports car finished fifth. Previous week s winner Mark Poole also won a heat, but was involved in a three car spin during the feature.

Bailey, Jr. did double duty as he set the fastest qualifying time for the ARCA Truck Series Motordrome debut. The young driver had won the two most recent events on the tour, and was excited to race at his home track as the series points leader. After climbing from sixth starting spot to second during the 50-lap event, Bailey was forced to pit for a flat left rear tire. West Virginia dirt track veteran Frank Wilson, Jr. powered to his first ARCA win of the year, after passing Danny Jackson, who finished second. Jackson, a second generation racer from Cincinnati, Ohio, like Bailey, is a two time winner in 2010. Early race leader Ash Hawkins finished third, while Bailey rallied back to nail down a top five finish.

In the Napa Street Stocks, Dink Colarusso made some bold moves early in the 25-lap feature to move from seventh to second in just seven laps. Also on lap seven, early race leader Jeff Zilweger and points leader Scott Aiello crashed, and erased the huge lead interval built up by Aaron Minjock. Minjock, a winner earlier in 2010, led eight laps in convincing fashion, but Colarusso made the winning pass on lap ten and drove away from the field for his second victory of the year. The defending Champion outran the previous week s winner Shawn Phillips, who grabbed second place from Minjock on lap 13 and finished as runner up after winning his heat earlier in the night. At the finish, heat winner Matt Sever earned third place after starting ninth. Minjock placed fourth and the leading winner in the division Teddy Gibala finished fifth.

In the heat races for the Pro Auto Supply Service Chargers, three-time winner Kristen Etling experienced a serious handling problem that looked to doom her family owned team for the night. When the green flag waved for the 15 lap feature, however, she advanced from eighth starting spot to second (with help from a caution flag incident restart) in just two official laps. Etling then took the lead and built up a huge interval, which she never surrendered. In lieu of making changes to the car from her heat race, she changed her driving style and was rewarded with a division leading fourth trophy of the season. Zane Ferrell, the points leader, started seventh and marched to second place, but was never able to get close to Etling s rear bumper. Denny Keller and Ron Eiford, III are also multiple feature winners, and they placed third and fourth respectively. Al Minjock led a lap and finished fifth. Keller and Ed McConnell won the heat races.

Starting in the unlucky position of 13th, Paul Koffler, Jr. amazingly powered into the lead of the 15-lap Coca Cola Super Compact feature on lap two! Koffler has won features and an Enduro this season, using different cars and won easily when the checkered flag waved on Commonwealth Contracting night. Finishing second yet again, while seeking a first career win was young Stephen Shelpman who started eleventh. Points leader Bill Schwartz finished third after starting 16th, with Christopher Knight placing fourth and previous week s winner Eugene Zerfoss finishing fifth. Andy Zottola, Kevin Caveman Keffer, and Knight won the heats.

Next Friday, August 6, Motordrome Speedway presents the second leg of the 2010 Triple Crown Series, for NASCAR Subway Super Late Models: The Summer Sizzler 100. Entries are expected from PA, OH, WV, and NY, to battle the Motordrome weekly NASCAR racers. All other divisions will compete in features only. Racing begins at 7:30pm.

Chris Bailey Leads ARCA Truck Series Points As They Head Into Motordrome
Date Posted: 7/28/2010
(Smithton, PA) Friday, July 30, Motordrome Speedway will host the ARCA Truck Series for the first time ever, on a paved speedway in Western, PA. And, one of Pittsburgh s own is making national headlines with the tour.

ARCA Truck Series Drivers from across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic region will converge on the half-mile oval in Smithton, PA Friday afternoon. But the focus of the racing world will be on rookie driver Chris Bailey, Jr. of South Park, PA. Bailey, who set a goal of earning the title of Rookie of the Year on the tour, has shocked the racing world with his stellar performances in 2010. Bailey has been a NASCAR Super Late Model competitor for a few years now, racing regularly at Motordrome Speedway on Friday nights, and at Lake Erie Speedway. In 2010 he climbed into an ARCA Truck for the first time and scored top ten finishes in the first three races. In his fourth career start, Bailey put his family owned team in victory lane, at Lorain County Speedway, outside of Cleveland, Ohio. In the very next race, Bailey proved the triumph was no fluke, as became the tour s only driver in 2010 to take consecutive checkered flags. The young Pittsburgher is now leading the overall Championship Point Standings for the ARCA Truck Series, as the tour heads for his home track this Friday. Bailey s two wins thus far are vaulting him into the racing spotlight, where he has stood before, as a former National Champion of Bandeleros racing. (Bandeleros are half-scaled race cars powered by motorcycle engines.) Now in front his hometown crowd, Bailey will display his ARCA Truck in the quest for an unprecedented third straight win as a rookie.

At 7:00pm Friday, the ARCA Truck Series will hold qualifying time trials in preparation for the 50-lap feature at Motordrome Speedway, as part of a five division racing program that also includes the NASCAR Subway Super Late Models, Napa Street Stocks, Pro Auto Supply Service Chargers, and Coca Cola Super Compacts. Racing begins at 7:30pm, and there will be no increase in admission prices for this special event. For more information log on to www.motordrome.com

Scott Takes Rained Out Modified Special as Poole, Shipp, Phillips, Eiford, and Zerfoss get Wins
Date Posted: 7/26/2010
(Smithton, PA) The biggest event of the season for the Wyotech Modifieds was postponed one week due to rain at Motordrome Speedway, and veteran Gary Scott was the winner on a scorching hot, slick surface. Mark Poole won for the second time this season in the NASCAR Subway Super Late Models, claiming the Subway Eat Fresh Challenge, and awarding every fan a free six-inch meatball sub. Bobby Shipp won the regularly scheduled Wyotech Modified feature, joining Poole, Shawn Phillips (Napa Street Stocks) and Eugene Zerfoss (Coca Cola Super Compacts) in becoming two time winners in 2010. Ron Eiford, III became a three time winner in the Pro Auto Supply Service Chargers as Casite sponsored the NASCAR Whelen All American Series action on July 23, 2010.

The first attempt at starting the 50-lap NASCAR Subway Super Late Model feature event damaged several machines, when Dan Lewis spun collecting Garry Wiltrout, Neil Brown, Bobby Henry, and others. Three-time Motordrome Champion Rick Miller, then, started on the pole, and took the early lead. Former rookie of the year, Paul Urso, looking for a second career win in the top division at Motordrome, then took command of the event. But, after starting deep in the field, Mark Cottone grabbed the top spot, hoping for his fourth win of the season. Cottone, also a three time Champion, won his heat earlier in the evening for his new sponsor Casite. After spinning in the lap one crash, Mark Poole began to march forward. Poole, a resident of Eighty-Four, PA, made a pit stop after being involved in the incident, but did not change tires before restarting at the tail of the field. Poole was a multi-feature winner in 2008, 2009, and had already made a trip to victory lane in 2010. Poole stormed into second place after a fierce battle and contact with Urso. Yet again, a pair of Mark-ed Men battled for the lead. Poole, who had been randomly drawn as the Subway Eat Fresh Challenge driver, and Cottone, the current division points leader, wrestled for the top spot and distanced themselves from the rest of the field. After Poole secured the lead from the defending Champ, he pulled away and became a multiple winner for the third straight season, earning free meatball subs for every fan in attendance. Poole s first win was early in 2010, and after some bad luck the Howard Concrete Pumping/Donaldson Supply Chevrolet struggled for a few weeks. In victory lane, Poole stated that the new Motordrome tire compound took some time figure out. Poole also won his heat, making a perfect night in spite of the opening lap feature crash that nearly ended his evening early. Cottone, Urso, John Komarinski, and Henry (who was also involved in the lap one crash) notched top five finishes.

The postponed 35-lap special event for the Wyotech Modifieds was dominated by Irwin, PA veteran Gary Scott. A graduate of motocross, go-karts, and dirt track Modifieds, Scott blasted into the lead around Billy Hribar and managed to hold on to his J-Yerd Chassis in the blazing, daylight conditions that made for a slick race track. It was the third time in 2010 that Scott s Swissvale Music/Ed s Auto Service/The Clarks sponsored ride was in victory lane, after a dismal 2009 season loaded with misfortunes. He now joins Chris Brink as the only three time victors. Late in the race, recent winner Bryan Shipp made some impressive moves to earn a second place finish, while championship contender Lonnie Hoffman notched a third place run. Points leader, Brink, hit the outside wall exiting turn four early in the event but still managed to finish fourth ahead of defending Champion and recent winner Adam Kostelnilk.

In the regularly scheduled 25-lap Mod feature rookie Pat Hanley put the Viglione Racing machine in front of the pack early on. After contact eliminated Bobby Shipp on lap one of the make-up feature, Shipp took the lead from Hanley and held the point position for much of the event. With numerous restarts, Hanley and Shipp would swap the lead again, but when the checkered flag waved, Shipp scored his second win of the season, literally persevering from last to first in the pair of features on the same evening. Hanley equaled his career-best finish of second, with Lonnie Hoffman third (again), younger brother Bryan Shipp fourth, and Chris Brink fifth. The Shipp brothers each won a heat race.

Fans were on their feet at the finish of the Napa Auto Parts Street Stock feature, after a rookie and a veteran battled to the checkered flag. Two-time winner, Matt Sever is a teenager who moved up to the Street Stocks after dominating the Super Compacts in 2009. After the front row starters Tom Knight, Sr. and Andrew Kostelnik collided in turn one at the wave of the green flag, heat winner Sever took the lead and looked to be headed to a second consecutive win. But after climbing from deep in the field, Shawn Phillips, a former Champion of the division, reeled in the youngster and began to apply pressure. As the white flag waved, the Sever-Phillips battle raged side-by-side, and at the finish line Phillips grabbed his second win of the year by only a fender, and predicted in victory lane that second place finisher Sever would someday be a champion. Dink Colarusso placed third after winning a heat race, with Dustin Blank and Teddy Gibala completing the top five.

In the Pro Auto Supply Service Chargers, the top winners of 2010 all finished at the front of the pack, but none were any match for Ron Eiford, III. Eiford outran the field to cruise to his third win of the season, tying the points leader Zane Ferrell and Kristen Etling for most victories. Eiford has won in three different divisions at Motordrome, and it was Etling who placed a distant second, after winning the previous week. Two time winner Denny Keller won a heat race and placed third in the 15-lap feature, with Ferrell finishing fourth after winning his heat and Chris Spadacene fifth.

For the second time, veteran Eugene The Hillbilly Zerfoss was in victory lane at the conclusion of the Coca Cola Super Compact feature. Zerfoss took the lead in the final laps, after young Stephen Shelpman appeared yet again to be headed for his first career win. Shelpman led the most laps, and held on for a second place finish ahead of recent feature winners Cody Quarrick in third, points leader Bill Schwartz in fourth, and Paul Koffler, Jr. fifth. Heat winners were June Mehelic, Shelpman, and Quarrick.

Next week the Wyotech Modifieds are off, to make room for the first ever visit of the ARCA Truck Series at Motordrome Speedway. Led by local favorite Chris Bailey, Jr., the touring series will join the NASCAR Subway Super Late Models, Napa Street Stocks, Pro Auto Supply Service Chargers, and Coca Cola Super Compacts for five divisions of racing, starting at 7:30pm.
